B.Sc Allied Health Sciences

These are three year graduation programmes. It includes extensive training in theory and practicals. Students will have clinical training also which enhances their application skills and will be able to correlate the clinical conditions better. They will have posting across the medical and dental specialities which in turn will horn their understanding. Various teaching innovations are included in the curriculum along with research .

Course fee:Rs.30,000/year (additional 20,000 for first year alone)

Eligibility: XII standard Pass or Equivalent

We focus on teaching clinical Anatomy with correlations. We constantly modify and introduce innovative teaching methodologies to make students competent as future clinicians. We guide UG and PhD students. Our faculty are involved in various research projects and publish papers regularly in national and international journals. We conduct CMEs, conferences, exhibitions and guest lectures to enrich our knowledge. We constantly participate in CMEs conferences and workshops in other colleges and present papers to update our knowledge.

PHYSIOLOGY

Physiology is the study of how organ systems function in a human being. The medical undergraduates need to be trained in diverse backgrounds, which enable them to bring unique insights and technical approaches to study living systems from the sub-cellular level to the whole organism. Teaching innovations include small group learning, paper cases, tutorials, lectures, focused exercises, laboratories, and demonstrations.

Microbiology

Our prime focus is on teaching, diagnostic as well as research activities.Serological tests such as Widal, Rapid Plasms Reagin (RPR), Anti-streptolysin O (ASO) titre, C-reactive protein (CRP) and Rheumatoid factor (RA) are routinely done in our Laboratory. Tests for HIV, Hepatitis B surface antigen, HCV, Leptospira, Malarial antigen and Dengue are also available by ELISA and rapid methods. Other investigations include Bacteriology cultures & sensitivity, Mycobacteriology, Parasitology & Mycology. In house culture media preparation and quality control are also done in the lab. Emergency service is provided by the laboratory technician on duty.

Pharmacology

Students are trained in Pharmacovigilance, chemical assay, animal handling, preclinical evaluation and animal simulation. They are also trained in research paper presentations   and encouraged to participate in conferences. Thrust Areas are Drug utilization studies , cancer research, herbal research, preclinical evaluation studies ,ADR reporting,  clinical research facility.

Biochemistry

Dry Chemistry, Wet chemistry, Immunochemistry and HPLC. Training is provided on various accreditation works like NAAC, NABL and NABH.Graduates will be posted to various speciality and super speciality departments for improving their clinical knowledge.Students are encouraged in research activities by helping them to apply for research projects in various funding organisations like ICMR. All the faculty are interested in research in Genetics and Immunochemistry.

Molecular Biology

Molecular biology deals with molecular basis of biological activity between biomolecules in the various systems of a cell,  interactions between DNA, RNA, and proteins and their biosynthesis, as well as the regulation of these interactions. It is a of techniques and ideas from genetics and biochemistry. We offer training in Molecular cloning, Polymerase chain reaction (PCR), Gel electrophoresis, Macromolecule blotting and probing, Microarrays, Allele-specific oligonucleotide.

Clinical Research

It is a certificate course on research. Student will learn about study designing, protocol making, applying for grants, and also to perform any study be it in the laboratory to a clinical trial and animal studies.

Duration: 2 years

Fees: Rs. 10,000 / year

Clinical research is a branch of healthcare science that determines the safety and effectiveness  of medications, devices, diagnostic products and treatment regimens intended for human use. These may be used for prevention, treatment, diagnosis or for relieving symptoms of a disease. Clinical research is different from clinical practice. In clinical practice established treatments are used, while in clinical research evidence is collected to establish a treatment.
