With 65250+ Published articles in SCOPUS®, SDC stands 1 th among all dental colleges in the world! Our college has more publications than many 100 year old legacy institutions like University of North Carolina, UCLA etc. Currently we are only outranked by Harvard, Michigan, Kings College London, Acta and Tokyo Dental College.

Apart from this, we have over 8000 publications in various other citation databases. Saveetha is the pioneer in undergraduate publications. Each undergraduate published around 5-10 papers before they graduate. Furthermore, our UG’s have won the IADR Hatton Award, published with IF up to 2.9 and achieve up to 23 publications by a single student.

High Impact Publications

It’s not just quantity, our publications have tremendous achievement in quality as well. We have published over 1480 publications with an IF of 3 or more. We are the only dental college with 15 Nature publications. Last year alone, our cumulative impact factor of all our departments was 1480. Furthermore, in 2021 the department of pharmacology enjoyed the highest impact factor of 845 for all articles published within the specified time period. The Department of Biochemistry stood second with a cumulative impact factor of 298. This shows how close the competition and the level of excellence is between the departments.

H Index

Our dental college has an Scopus H index of 131 and WOS H index of 100. This is arguably one of the highest in the country. we have more than 100 publications with over 200 citations showing the remarkable impact of our research.

Government Sponsored Projects

Saveetha has a credible name in the field of research among various funding agencies. This year we received over 20 crores of grants from DST, DBT< SERB, DRDO, ICMR etc. The Institutes Hands-off policy with numerous supportive capital investments make SDC an ideal bed for aspiring researcher. Our White lab, Pink lab, Gold lab and DRC , STC are centres of excellence with spectacular achievements.

We rich community and network of sponsored projectors from various national and international agencies. From international university funding for rehabilitation of poor communities to massive materials testing agencies have collaborate with us over the years and have made significant contribution to our research expenditure.

Our college promotes an active research environment by supporting researcher to visit conferences, purchases of co-sponsored equipments, project funding development, content development, administrative time management etc. This year we have spent over 12 crores for this entity alone!

Saveetha Dental College has the 3rd highest number of patents filed by a single institute in 2019. This is featured in the times Educations Newspaper.

Its unimaginable for a single dental college to rank 3rd after two universities, namely IIT and Amity University.

We dont do patents for namesake. Infact our active incubation centre has worked very hard with various vendors and developers to translate the patents into products. We have sold over 15 Lakhs worth good and services based on our patents. Saveetha has become a role model in research translation from the bench to the lab to the factor to the market.

Research Curriculum

STAR SUMMIT

Saveetha Transdisciplinary Annual Research Summit, is a 6 day long research gala celebration where Under graduates, Post graduates of all years proudly present their research projects in a grant stage. 1900 posters from a single college across 6 days makes it such a feast for all students to analyse and learn from each other. This is an extraordinary example of integration of research into our curriculum.

UG Research

Each Undergraduate carries out upto 8 projects a year. They may range from surveys to advanced molecular analysis. Our curriculum is designed to incorporate 100 marks for formative evaluation of in each subject. Such a powerful integration of research into the FA of each subject promotes an extraordinarily enriched environment unlike anything else in the world! Our record for a single UG with maximum publications is 24 and the record breaking publication among UG’s in quality is IF 3.89. This is remarkable considering that most professor in 10 years are not able to achieve these metrics.

PG Research

Each Post Graduate participates in 5 short term projects and 1 thesis for the final exam. This translates into 15 publications before they graduate making them more employable in academic circles. With advanced govertment funding extablished labs, our students are achieving great strides in research. Furthermore, many of our PG’s also visit abroad for 3-6 weeks to perform research with leading universities like Seoul National University, University of North Carolina etc. This has translated into many high impact publications.

Saveetha Dental College has been the Universal service provider to offer training for professionals from Australia since 2014. In the past 5 years over 200+ experienced Australian dental practitioners have visited India and participated in our advanced clinical training programs in Implantology, Impactions and Microendodontics. These programs have generated massive consultancy revenue that have contributed to the establishment of numerous research labs and upgrading of our existing infrastructure.

The two major software service products developed by Saveetha include, ARMS ( Academic Record Management System) and DIAS ( Dental Information Archival System).

IADR Conference 2016 - Seoul, South Korea

136 Student and faculty delegates visited IADR in Seoul South Korea. Here our students presented various papers and posters on clinical trials . For the first time int he 95 year history of IADR a single institution won 5 prizes.

IADR Conference 2017 - San Francisco, CA, USA

93 Student and Faculty delegates visited IADR and AAID joint general Sessions in San Francisco. Our students wont he prestigious Hatton Award and also the Cariology Award cash prize of 5000 dollars.

IADR Conference 2018 - London, UK

89 Student and faculty delegates participated in the IADR conference in London. Here to our students won the Hatton Scholarship Award and the IADR India scholarship to visit London.
