CRITICALLY APPRAISING EVIDENCE
The Department of Orthodontics at Saveetha Dental College hosted a webinar on 'Critically Appraising Evidence’ on 31st December 2021. The guest speaker was Dr. Gautham Sivamurthy, Clinical Lecturer at the University of Dundee, MFDS examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and MOrth examiner for Royal College of Surgeons of England and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. The guest speaker gave a detailed presentation on how to critically evaluate the articles. It was an interactive session and the delegates had a thorough discussion with the guest speaker. Following that, the delegates were given hands-on training in critically evaluating articles.

The Department of Physiology conducted a Faculty development programme on 23rd December 2021 entitled “Basics of Electrophysiology in neuroscience” by Dr. Priyesh C, Assistant professor, Department of Psychology, Christ University, Ghaziabad, New Delhi. 72 participants from our college and other colleges participated in the Faculty development programme. The Speaker has shared his valuable knowledge on Electrophysiology And its importance in neuroscience. He has also delivered vast information about EEG and ERP and its clinical significance. There was a doubt clearing session which was very informative and interactive.

Webinar on Dental applications of Bio-nanomaterials was conducted on 16.12.21 by Dept of oral biology and oral pathology. The speaker was Dr Jaison Jeevanandam, who is a senior researcher in the Center for chemistry,University of Madeira, Portugal. The webinar had highlighted the synthesis of nanomaterials for biological applications and usage of the same in the dental field.
Plastination and Casting Technique
The Department of Anatomy in association with the Department of Oral pathology and Oral biology organized a national post conference workshop on Plastination and Casting Technique on 18th December 2021. This is a part of an online national conference held on 14th December 2021. Mr. Harikrishnan, Assistant Professor, Travancore medical college, an expert in the field served as our resource person. The prerequisites for the hands on workshop were covered under the online session. During the offline session the participants were trained with hands-on luminal cast Plastination and he demonstrated the whole organ Plastination in a highly interactive way.
