The Department of Periodontics conducted a National CDE program on 14th Dec 2021 on “ CLINICAL DENTAL PHOTOGRAPHY” by Dr. U. Arunmozhi, Professor, Department of Periodontics, Sri Venkateshwara Dental College, Chennai. He shared in elaborate the basics of photography, dental photography, the essence of lights in capturing better dental photographs. Positions to be followed while capturing the dental photography. The essence of various intraoral devices which can further enhance the quality of photography. The common errors made in dental photography. The various modes available in DSLR Camera were elaborated. Workshop on extraoral, intraoral, studio lights and basic photography was demonstrated by him which was very essential for dental students to improve their skills on clinical dental photography.
Comprehensive Aesthetics
This workshop involves a series of lecture and hands-on workshop for all the participants scheduled every weekend. The series involved are – veneer preparations and bonding protocols, Teeth whitening and bleaching procedures, dental photography and composite layering followed by polishing techniques and finally laser aesthetics.
Essential Fascial Spaces of Head and Neck
The Department of Anatomy organized a webinar titled “Essential Fascial Spaces of Head and Neck” held on 11th December 2021. Dr. Ilavenil K , Our speaker of the day , Reader & Head of Department of Anatomy, Sri Ramakrishna Dental College and Hospitals, Coimbatore. She delivered a highly contented presentation that highlighted the most information that students would usually neglect reading. She also discussed the clinical relevance of the topic of presentation.

Webinar on Ethical considerations for Healthcare Research in vulnerable populations was conducted on 09.12.21 by Dept of oral biology and oral pathology. The speaker was Dr. Naziya K B, Project scientist, ICMR - NIE. The webinar had enumerated the ethical regulations to be adapted in various study designs.
Biomarkers – Research and Approach in Practice
The Department of Physiology conducted a Webinar Series VIII on 4th December 2021 entitled “Biomarkers – Research and Approach in Practice” by Dr. Renuka Natarajan, Healthcare analyst, Spinverse, Finland. There are about 109 participants from various other colleges and also from our college too. She shared her valuable knowledge on various Biomarker techniques and its importance. She also had given an ample idea about each and every procedure. We hope that her skill would help all participants to improve their activity in future. The programme wrecked with an excellent intermingling session.
BASICS OF 3D BIOPRINTING
The Department of Periodontics conducted a National webinar on 4th Dec 2021 on “BASICS OF 3D BIOPRINTING” by Dr. POOJA VENKATESH, Head, Biotechnology, IP & Regulatory Efforts, Next Big Innovation Labs, Bengaluru. A total of 30 participants attended the webinar from various colleges and our college too. She shared her erudite experience in the field and discussed about the various 3d bioprinting technologies and bioinks suitable for hard and soft tissue printing. We hope the webinar opened avenues for further research in this field.

Webinar on Biopsy Procedures was conducted on 02.12.21 by Dept of oral biology and oral pathology. The speaker was Dr.Sufia khan, Assistant professor, Dept. of Oral pathology, Awadh dental college & hospitals, Jamshedpur. The speaker had elaborated on Basic to complex methodologies performed as Biopsy procedures.
WORLD AIDS DAY
The Department of Microbiology observed the World AIDS day on 1ST of December 2021 in the Saveetha Dental College and Hospital premises with the theme “End inequalities. End AIDS”. The department organized an awareness campaign emphasizing the importance of avoiding a discriminative attitude while handling AIDS patients. Discrimination come in the ways of being in rich and poor nation, rich and poor man, urban and rural and even gender. The department arranged a webinar on “Cell polarity and Macrophage Polarization: Implication in HIV and Cancer therapy” by Dr. Ishaan C. Jagan. Phd (Cancer Biology) a researcher on HIV and immunity and cofounder, VRRX Therapeutics Pvt, Ltd, Chennai, India. The lecture is aimed at creating awareness among the dental students and faculties on risk of showing discrimination while treating patients with HIV and AIDS and improving the general health that enhances the immune response. The lecture was well attended by students, faculties and international delegates, with a total of 80 participants.
