The Department of Anatomy conducted a webinar on the topic “Molecular biology and Forensic Dentistry” on 11th January 2022. Dr. Brindha devi delivered a detailed presentation about the role of dentists in forensic dentistry with relevance to molecular biology. She detailed the difference specimens, and the procedure for DNA isolation PCR amplification and detection using Gel electrophoresis.

Modern age concepts in hard and soft tissue augmentation around dental implants
The Department of implantology conducted a CDE workshop on the topic Modern Concepts in Hard and Soft Tissue Augmentation on January 7th and 8th 2022.The speaker for the event was Dr Tarun Kumar head of Bapuji Implant Centre and Vice Principal of Bapuji dental College. A total 62 participants attended the CDEProgram. Dr Tarun Kumar gave lectures on the biomaterials and techniques of augmentation following which we had a hands-on workshop for the post-graduate students where they learnt soft tissue advancement and bone grafting on a pig jaw.
Magnetotherapy in Cancer Treatment
Webinar on Magnetotherapy in Cancer Treatment was conducted on 06.01.2022 by Dept of oral biology and oral pathology. The speaker was Dr. Srikanthi Kavitha, Scientist, International Advanced Research centre for Powder Metallurgy & New Materials (ARCI), Chennai. The webinar highlighted the concept of Magnet Therapy as an emerging modality for cancer treatment.

The Department of Public Health Dentistry conducted a Webinar on 5th January 2022 entitled “Dental Clinic Based Behavioural Intervention in Promoting Tobacco Cessation” by Dr. Aruna DS, Professor, Dept of Public Health Dentistry, PGD Health Promotion, CTCS. She shared her valuable knowledge and experience on behavioural intervention in tobacco cessation and role of dentist in promotion of tobacco cessation. She has discussed various health education models and various coping strategies during relapse. We hope that her inputs would help all participants to effectively participate in tobacco cessation counselling. The programme wrecked with an interactive session.
