Saveetha Dental College - Cooking  Club Organized an Event on ‘ Exploring the Delights of Millet-Based Cuisine ’ on 25th July 2023

The culinary enthusiasts of the Cooking Club came together for a delectable food adventure on July 25th, 2023.  The official inauguration of the cooking Club at the institution was done. The objective of the club is to create awareness among young students and faculty about the importance of cooking healthy foods. Considering the enormous rise in chronic metabolic diseases in our country, this initiative will make a big difference in creating health awareness among students, faculty and patients who are being treated in our hospital. A captivating in-person lecture and workshop titled "Exploring the Delights of Millet-Based Cuisine" was orchestrated. Our honoured guest for the event was the renowned Indian Celebrity Chef, Dr Chef Damodharan K. With his culinary wisdom and insight he took us on a journey through the world of millet-based foods, infusing flavours and knowledge. He demonstrated the steps in making ragi idiyappam biryani. Students and faculty competed in 7 teams and tried to recreate the magical recipe of Chef Damu. Two student teams won the awards for best preparation. The session was wonderfully interactive and joyfully suffused with music and dance. Dr R. Ramya moderated the session and enhanced our understanding of the significance of millet-based cuisine. The Cooking Club continues to savour and learn, all thanks to such enriching gastronomic experiences.
