Cooking Club organized Onam Sadhya Event. It is a traditional vegetarian feast served in Kerala, India, during the festival of Onam, which is the most significant festival in the state. Onam Sadhya is known for its elaborate spread of dishes, typically served on a banana leaf. It is a multi-course meal that consists of various delicious and colorful vegetarian dishes. The Onam Sadhya is not just about the food but also about the way it is served and the communal aspect of the feast. Families and communities come together to enjoy this grand meal, and it is an integral part of the Onam celebration, symbolizing unity, diversity, and abundance. The variety of dishes and flavors make Onam Sadhya a culinary delight and a unique cultural experience. To celebrate the vibrance and joy of the festival, a feast was organised by cooking club on 2/9/23 with a delectable spread of 23 dishes which included plain boiled rice, served along with other dishes collectively called Kootu which include curries like parippu, sambar, rasam, pulisseri and others like kaalan, avial, thoran, olan, pachadi, kichadi, koottukari, erissery, mango pickle, pulinji, naranga achaar (lime pickle), as well as papadam, plantain . Chancellor Sir had inaugurated the event. Chendu melam music was played at the background to give the seasonal feel. Additionally a pookolam and lamp was kept to complete the decor. A live video on the molecular gastronomy of the onam sadhya was played. The event was presided by Dr.Sheeja Varghese, Registrar, Dr.Aravindkumar, Dean,SDC Dr.Sindhu, Dean of Accreditation, Dr.Vishnupriya, Dean of Doctoral studies.
