The CDE programme entitled “Research & Clinical Applications of Stem Cells – Recent updates” was held at Saveetha Dental College and Hospital on 14 th December 2018. The Department of Periodontics was honoured to host esteem researchers in Stem cells. Dr. R. Suresh, currently working as a Private Practitioner in Chennai and the Former Dean of Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai delivered lecture on Oral sources and characteristics of stem cells’. Dr. Revathi Raj, Senior Consultant in Paediatric Haematology, Oncology and blood and marrow transplantation at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai delivered lecture on ‘Recent applications of stem cells in medical field’. Dr. Pulikkotil Shaju Jacob, Assistant Professor at the School of Dentistry, International Medical University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia delivered lecture on Lipopolysaccharides on PDL Stem Cells’. Dr. Satish Ramalingam, Assistant Professor, Department of Genetic Engineering at SRM University, Kattankulathur delivered lecture on ‘Stem cells in Regenerative Medicine’. Over 60 post graduates and over 80 partcipants from various parts of the country benefited from this programme which gave valuable insights on recent research on stem cells and its clinical applications.
