The overall oral hygiene maintenance was noted to be satisfactory among the subjects. Soft tissue lesions associated with tobacco use such as smoker’s palate, leukoplakia were noted to be 1% among the population. Good oral hygiene status was noted to be 13% among the population. Individuals were interactive during the health education. Oral hygiene kit with tooth paste, tooth brush were given to all individuals. Free treatment cards were given to all individuals Shops selling tobacco in the form of cigarettes and other smokeless form were noted in 1 km radius surrounding the camp site.

Kinetics of Polymerization in Composite resin-Guest Lecture

Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics organised a guest lecture on “Kinetics of Polymerization in Composite resin”on 21.9.18 presented by Dr. D. Sihivahanan, Reader, Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, SRM Katankulathur Dental College and Hospitals, Chennai. The study of polymerization kinetics is of great interest in dentistry, particularly for restorative composites. The rate at which that reaction takes place influences not only the final degree of conversion but also some of the important physical and mechanical properties of the final material. The guest lecture focused on how the polymerization progress is important for researchers developing new materials and for clinicians to obtain the best performance out of the final restoration.

Class II direct posterior composite- Hands On

Creating tight anatomic correct proximal contacts remains difficult when placing direct posterior composite restorations. This problem is based on several potential mechanisms, including that composite cannot be ‘condensed’ as can amalgam, which leads to an insufficient adaptation of the matrix towards the adjacent tooth and polymerization shrinkage of composite. The choice of the matrix system and separation technique is an important factor, present dentistry sectional matrix band is used for creating anatomically tight proximal contact.

This course highlights on live demonstration and Hands on course on  Class 2 composite restoration using sectional matrix system.

Teacher’s Day

Teacher’s Day is celebrated in India on September 5 every year. It is celebrated in order to pay tribute to the contribution made by the teachers towards the community.
